Continuing Education
DCDSB Continuing and Adult Education program provides accelerated, eLearning and remedial summer courses for secondary students. We offer something for everyone, whether you are looking to take courses to get ahead, or want to improve your achievement standing - we can help. The courses available in the summer include:
Secondary (OSSD) Credits
Credit Recovery Summer School Courses
Duration: 2 weeks
Students must have taken the same course and level within the previous TWO school years prior to summer school and have achieved a mark between 35% and 49% to be eligible. Students who wish to upgrade a mark in a course that they have previously completed can also take Credit Recovery summer school.
Accelerated Summer School Courses
Duration: 4 weeks
For students who wish to gain a credit in a subject they have not previously studied or who wish to upgrade a mark in a course that they have previously completed. Students can only take the equivalent of ONE accelerated course in the summer.
- Students need computer and internet access to take an online course. Students taking an online course will be expected to log-in on a daily basis and meet all deadlines. Students should be able to commit to working on assignments each day. Participation of approximately 6 hours per day, Monday - Friday is highly recommended for completion of this program.
- Due to the compressed time frame of Summer School, students must be available for ALL program dates.
- Flexibility of an online course allows students to access their course material from anywhere that has internet access and any time during the day or night; however, students may be asked to participate in online discussions at specified times.
- Once students are registered and enrolled into the on-line environment, they will be able to access their courses at https://durhamrc.elearningontario.ca/
- Student must be in Canada for duration of course as VPN will not be supported for those outside the country.
Students can only register for the equivalent of ONE accelerated course in the summer. If a student is taking an accelerated course, they cannot register for another program in July (i.e. a student cannot take an accelerated course and a credit recovery course).
Students who have been successful in the course previously (achieved a mark of 50% or higher) and who wish to upgrade such mark, can take either the Credit Recovery or Accelerated option (July 2024).
