Thanksgiving Food Drive (October 2nd - 6th)
St. Mary will be launching our annual THANKSGIVING FOOD and CLOTHING DRIVE from Monday October 2 to Friday October 6, 2017!
What is being collected?
- non-perishable items: canned goods (fish & meat, vegetables/beans, fruit, soup, chili, pasta sauce), cereal/oatmeal, granola bars/snacks, peanut butter, jam, juice boxes, pasta, rice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, stuffing, gravy, instant mashed potatoes
- hygiene items: soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion
- gently used clothing, eyeglasses, school supplies
- gift cards for local grocery stores
Where can I donate?
Each homeroom class has a St. Mary Mission Room donation bin. Retreat Leaders will visit on Wednesday October 4th to further motivate and conduct a “weigh in” for an “early bird prize.” The most generous senior and junior homeroom classes will be given the opportunity to participate in an escape room challenge on Thursday October 5, 2017.
Where will the donations go?
· All gently-used clothing donations will be shipped directly to developing nations through Dr. Simone’s Canadian Food for Children. Mr. Loudfoot will be arranging for our donations to be brought to the warehouse in Mississauga.
· We will also be distributing food directly to families who are part of our St. Mary Community who need support and to support our The Mission Room (Community Outreach). Extra food collected will be donated to our local food banks in Pickering (St. Paul’s On the Hill and Holy Redeemer).
