Mental Health & Well-Being: Bullying Prevention and Intervention
Prayer:
St. Thérèse of Lisieux says, “Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by kindly words; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”
St. Thérèse calls us all to a very special kind of holiness, that is, to do God’s work out of love for Him in the way we go about our daily tasks and interactions. Her idea was to do everything in life, especially the little things, out of love for God and for our neighbours. Even the kindness we show can be as holy as doing missionary work if our desire is to serve God as best we can. Kindness brings people together. Showing kindness to others is just as rewarding as receiving it from someone else.
Today, let us pray that we may see those people who bring help and hope to us in times of need by showing kindness in the big and small ways. We pray God will guide us to rise to the occasion and bring His light to others. May we be shining examples of kindness today.
God’s love shines in us.
When we act with kindness,
God’s love shines in us.
When we share our time and talents,
God’s love shines in us.
When we say good things about people,
God’s love shines in us.
When we stand up for one another,
God’s love shines in us.
When we are kind to one another,
God’s love shines in us.
When we show respect to our family, friends, and school staff,
God’s love shines in us.
Daily Challenge Secondary:
Think of a friend or family member that is looking for a pick me up. Send them a message letting them know how much you care for them.
Parent Information:
Bullying is a repeated behaviour that is intended to hurt, harm, or intimidate another person. This can be done in a variety of ways, including physical aggression, verbal abuse, exclusion, or online harassment. Bullying often involves a power imbalance, with one person or group exerting their power over another person who may be weaker, more vulnerable, or simply different (for example due to their gender, race or ability). As parents, it's important to talk to your children about bullying and make sure they know that it's not okay to be bullied, to hurt others or to stand by and watch it happen. Encourage them to speak up if they or someone they know is being bullied and teach them to be kind and respectful to others. If your child is being bullied, it's important to act by talking to their teacher, or another caring adult in the school.
