Miller Discovery Day welcomes St. Mary Transportation SHSM Students

St. Mary Transportation SHSM and technology students were invited to Miller Group in Markham to attend their annual Miller Discovery Day on May 4th. 

Miller Group showcased a variety of careers in trades, STEM and other field that are available within the Miller Group, a COLAS company. Students participated in a variety of hands-on activities including excavator simulator, VR simulator, understanding aggregates, cement and rock salt activities, electrical current panel and an asphalt laboratory for testing and quality control. 

Students also has opportunities to speak with industry professionals and certified tradespeople while learning about various heavy equipment that Miller uses in its construction and road maintenance around the GTA, Canada and the world. 

As one of the largest construction companies in Canada, Miller Group staff discussed career opportunities available for students and graduates including apprenticeship opportunities. Miller Group has partnered with St. Mary this semester to host an OYAP student exploring a truck and coach technician pathway at their Pickering location.
