St. Mary Grade 11 and 12 Drama Showcase (Thursday May 23 and Friday May 24)

The St. Mary Arts department is proud to present the Grade 11 and 12 Drama class showcase! This year’s production features not one, but two one-act plays. First, in Ian McWethy’s “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors,” a casting director has one day to find the leads for a community theater production of Romeo and Juliet. But what seems like a simple task proves impossible when the pool of actors includes extreme method actors, performers who just don't know what to do with their hands, and one particular woman who may or may not think she's a cat. This hilarious comedy will bring you to the last place you'd ever want to be...behind the doors of a casting session. And then, Bradley Hayward’s “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” confronts the daily challenges of being a teenager through a series of monologues and scenes that tackle parents who don't get it, rumors, bullying, and suicide. Funny and tragic, the gritty details of adolescence surface and expose the things teenagers can't, won't, and don't want to talk about.

The show runs Thursday May 23 and Friday May 24 at 7pm.
