St. Mary Catholic Secondary School Receives Pickering Environmental Schools Grant to Support Outdoor Classroom and Gardens

St. Mary Catholic Secondary School received a Pickering Environmental Schools Grant from the City of Pickering in the 2023-2024 school year. The school used the funds to support the outdoor classroom and gardens. St. Mary Catholic Secondary School was able to purchase solar panels and a power source so the outdoor classroom is self- powered, which means that students and staff can use technology and/or projectors in the space. The school also bought 32 folding chairs so students can sit in the space for outdoor lessons. Students and staff planted trees and shrubs surrounding the outdoor classroom.
