Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) Exam

Posted On Thursday February 14, 2019

Through a Ministry of Education French language project and in partnership with Alliance Française de Toronto, Grade 12 students across the Durham Catholic DSB will be provided the opportunity to participate in an internationally recognized language exam called the Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF). The exam will take place during the week of May 6th-10th, 2019.

The DELF exam is not part of the regular French program and will have no impact on a student's French mark; however, upon successful completion of the exam, students will receive a DELF certificate from the French Ministry of National Education, which is valid for life.

Students will have the opportunity to challenge one of three levels of the exam decided upon at the time of registration. A non-refundable exam fee is also payable upon registration. The Board subsidized fee for A Level exams is $75 and $130 for B Level exams. Students will complete the oral and written components of the exam.

Oral exams may be scheduled at various times throughout the week of May 6th-10th. A limited number of spots are available for each level of the exam across the system. Students will receive notification of their successful application to participate in the DELF exam, along with dates, times and location of their exams in early April. Transportation to the exam site is the responsibility of each student.

The registration process opens on February 20th and the deadline to register and submit the exam fee is March 6, 2019. Students and their families are strongly encouraged to visit dcdsb.ca for additional information on the exam and registration process.
