Dear Parents/Guardians,

First of all, thank you for your patience and understanding as we manoeuvre through these difficult times.  We hope that you and your family are well.  We have been informed that the schools will remain closed beyond the end of June.  We understand that your child may have personal belongings in his / her locker.  For this reason, we have been granted permission by the Durham Health Department to allow students access only to their lockers to retrieve any personal belongings.   Classrooms will not be accessible.  A strict protocol must be followed and that is included in this letter.

The attached protocol (School Access Protocol) outlines the steps that must be taken by anyone who wishes to enter the school. All staff and students must pass the Ministry of Health Self-Assessment enclosed. Staff/students must take the self-assessment before being allowed into the school. Staff will be monitoring students on their way into the school, while in the school and while exiting the school.

Students will be given a very limited time (approximately 10 minutes) to retrieve personal belongings and must exit the school immediately. Students are to leave school grounds immediately upon exiting the school.

Students will enter the front doors of the building and exit through the back door of the school.  Physical distancing must be maintained at all times. We ask if possible that one member per family pick up belongings of family members.

Textbooks that are not in use and are presently in lockers may be returned to the tables in the cafetorium.  All needed text books should be kept until later, when instructions will be given to retrieve these items.

Students are to remove their locks and empty their lockers. Access to the school is for the sole purpose of returning school materials that are not needed for distance learning and retrieving personal belongings.

Access to the school is organized by student alpha (Student Access Schedule).  Please see attached schedule and Self- Assessment Criteria (simply click on the blue links in this letter).

Yours in partnership,

Mrs. Susan Duane
Principal
